Public programs include individual artist talks, panels, short film screenings, and exhibition walkthroughs. Programs are organized to coincide with museum-curated exhibitions on view at Art + Practice.
A+P is hitting the road for a program that connects two exhibitions in two different areas of Los Angeles. For this special weekend event, A.J. Girard, community relations manager at The Underground Museum and art enthusiast who holds a degree in Art History from Howard University, will be leading an extensive tour of two exhibitions.
First, Girard will take us through A+P’s current exhibition Collective Constellation: Selections from The Eileen Harris Norton Foundation and give us insight into the artistic and cultural importance of the artists and their work drawing from his art history background and extensive work with museum organizations. Following this tour, a charted bus will take participants to the Hammer Museum in Westwood and Girard will then guide participants through Ja’Tovia Gary’s film exhibition THE GIVERNY SUITE. While both exhibitions are curated by Hammer Museum associate curator Erin Christovale, they also share many themes related to the perception of the bodies of women of color.
This event is free of charge and includes bus transportation. Due to the precision needed for the bus count, RSVP is required. Practical information will be sent closer to the date to those on the RSVP list.
This program is organized on the occasion of Collective Constellation: Selections from The Eileen Harris Norton Collection on view at Art + Practice through August 1, 2020. Collective Constellation: Selections from The Eileen Harris Norton Collection is presented by Art + Practice in collaboration with the Hammer Museum and organized by their Associate Curator Erin Christovale.
