Public programs include individual artist talks, panels, short film screenings, and exhibition walkthroughs. Programs are organized to coincide with museum-curated exhibitions on view at Art + Practice.
Join Art + Practice for a talk with Los Angeles-based artist Diedrick Brackens. Brackens (b. 1989, Mexia, TX) will discuss his practice of handweaving textiles to explore themes of Black and queer identity, and American history. Brackens will also describe his process of making his weavings and the techniques used—drawing from West African weaving, quilting from the American South, and the art of European-tapestry making—to create abstract and figurative works.
This program is organized on the occasion of A+P’s exhibitions Stephen Towns: Rumination and a Reckoning and Ramsess: The Gathering.
Please RSVP here. Admission is always free.
